This webinar, which was broadcast on April 5, updates attendees on the Highway Construction Workforce Partnership (HCWP), a joint effort of transportation construction industry leaders and local, state, and federal government agencies.
A “HCWP Playbook” was developed based on the experience of pilot programs in six cities and six states on how to match industry employment needs and opportunities with local workforce development resources. This webinar details those strategies and outlines the partnership’s continuation.
Over the past two years, ARTBA has joined the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration (ETA), American Association of State Highway & Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) in the pilots. ARTBA and AGC chapters, state and local Workforce Development Boards, state DOTs, FHWA Divisions and other state and local partners have forged working relationships to identify, train, and place individuals in highway construction jobs.
ARTBA members consider workforce needs a top priority. As our industry and government partners push for continued and expanded investment in highway and bridge projects, there will be even more demands for qualified highway construction workers as well.
